Characters are created in Venus 2141 by choosing a series of Lifestyles. Each lifestyle represents an important section of your life and grants you Skills, Gear and Contacts.
You probably want to download and print out a character sheet:
* Choose six lifestyles, including one childhood lifestyle and one Venus Arrival lifestyle. Total up all of the skills you get from the lifestyles you chose.
* The first skill in each group has to be the base skill. Once you have that, you can choose its child fields and if you have a field already you can choose a child focus.
* You also get six freebie skills to distribute as you see fit.
* In the end, make sure you meet the Requirements for any lifestyles that might have them.
* Some lifestyles give you specific gear. Most lifestyles give you 5 gear points – which is to say five Quality points of gear. Go look through the gear section and choose or design what you want.
* Some gear has PMP – that’s Permanent Murphy’s Points. If you do take stuff like that, it’s kind of bad. Tell the GM your total.
* Each lifestyle has a Contacts associated with it. That’s an NPC. Two of them should be friends and two should be enemies. The other two can be either. Keep in mind that enemies can be good because they give you player points whenever they show up.
* Start with 6 Player points. You always start a session with at least one, and you can never save more than you have lifestyles.
* That’s about it. You’re finished. Maybe you should work out how you know the other player characters. Meeting in a bar is a little too cliché.
